Take flexible, affordable, and completely virtual piano lessons with me! My approach to teaching draws on a diverse musical background that strives to encompass elements of music theory, performance, and creativity at the keyboard. Each student is uniquely interested in music — I will tailor our lessons to your interests and abilities.

Learn to play as a beginner or refine your abilities as a pianist. We can explore new exercises, methods, and pieces while working to improve your keyboard agility.

  • Music Theory

Build chord progressions and play your favorite songs in any key using simple techniques! My goal is to help you understand music on a deeper level and unlock your ability to create.

  • Reading Ability / Ear Training

Understand how to read music quickly and utilize basic ear training. Read at the piano using traditional sheet music or read chord symbols using chart-style lead sheets.

  • Creativity

Learn composition techniques and develop improvisation skills. Write your own music and learn how to confidently solo in any situation.

 

Teacher Bio

Adam Jagdfeld is a pianist and private instructor based in Washington, D.C. & DMV area. From classical beginnings to experimental jazz, his journey has included performances with drum corps, jazz bands, show choirs, and much more. Adam’s current mission as an artist aims to expand his knowledge and abilities as both a performer and an educator. With a love for collaboration and spontaneous creativity, jazz music has served as a beacon of inspiration in his music career.

Discovering a love for music at the young age of 5, Adam’s journey began in small-town Wisconsin with private classical tutoring. In 2022, with a focus on Jazz Studies, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Back on campus, Adam studied under esteemed professor Johannes Wallmann while maintaining membership in several university ensembles, including his time as principal pianist for the UW Jazz Orchestra and assistant music director for the Wisconsin Singers. While piano is his primary focus, he has experience instructing and performing on both marimba & vibraphone (two and four mallet techniques) and a variety of electronic instruments.
