I'm a GRAMMY-winning artist and dedicated Piano Performance specialist
Philosophy:
I am dedicated to providing an environment that promotes the highest potential of each student. The focus of lessons is on musical knowledge, technical precision, and artistic expression. These goals serve the purpose of fostering a lifelong enjoyment of music at every level of proficiency.
Benefits:
The value of music goes beyond technical execution; for children, benefits of music study include enhanced cognitive function measured in linguistics, logic, mathematics, and countless areas.
Enhanced memory, physical coordination, creative expression, general well-being and other emotional benefits have been measured in students of all ages!
Teaching & Learning Style:
Teaching students HOW TO LEARN is a core principle of all great teaching and my goal is to empower my students to work independently and effectively across every area of their lives.
My teaching style is structured but adaptable; I support students who wish to pursue specific goals, while also allowing flexibility in the process. Many of my adult students work at their own pace (adapting practicing time around varying commitments) and I welcome that!
Connections:
My affiliation with state and national teaching associations allows my students to have access to unique opportunities. Furthermore, I’m a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (aka “The GRAMMYS”), so I am an eager mentor to artists who wish to pursue the path of creating their own recordings/singles/albums/music-videos etc.
Perspective:
As a composer, producer, and as a recording artist, I have a unique perspective which allows me to go beyond basic models of music instruction; I value tradition while seeking an open-minded approach to learning contemporary music and adapting to an ever-changing professional landscape.
Ultimately, my own artistic path has shown me how to nurture individual creativity in my students.
